Swiss Hockey wins the bid to host Hockey5’s A- European Championship U16 Girls and Boys in Lausanne The tournament is also the qualification for the “Youth Olympic Games”.

Frank P. Schneider, President Swiss Hockey is particularly pleased that the European Championship is also the qualifying tournament for the “Youth Olympic Games 2022”.

The European Championship will take place from 7th-10th July 2021 in the Olympic capital Lausanne, also the headquarters of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and the International Olympic Committee.

For the sport of hockey in Switzerland, this is a unique opportunity to put the Olympic sport of hockey in the spotlight with a professionally organised event

The game is played in Youth Olympic Format Hockey5’s, a new format with 4 field players and a goalkeeper. Qualified for the tournament in Lausanne are the 10 best European nations. The two first-placed teams qualify for the “Youth Olympic Games.

After the excellent performance of our teams at the last European Championships in Poland (U16 Girls Vice European Champions and U16 Boys 4th place), we calculate realistic chances for the title in both competitions and thus the qualification for the "Youth Olympic Games".
