Rotweiss Wettingen secures its place in the EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup Men

Last weekend in Wettingen was all about indoor field hockey: The European Cup Indoor Club Championship brought the best club teams in Europe to Switzerland.

Rotweiss Wettingen, who took part as hosts, put in a strong tournament performance and secured their place in the top European league with a 5th place finish. Next year, HC Olten will represent Switzerland on this stage as the newly crowned national indoor field hockey champions.

Rotweiss Wettingen’s performance was characterized by fighting spirit, team cohesion and a tireless determination to present themselves in the best possible light in front of their home crowd.

“I am incredibly proud to be able to end this indoor season with such a positive result. It wasn’t easy to keep up the performance and quality after such a long season.What’s more, the challenge for us was to achieve the best possible result in front of the entire home crowd,” summed up Michél Morard, the captain of Rotweiss Wettingen.

Despite the challenges on the pitch, it was clear that the team received huge support from the fans and the entire club family.

“The fact that you can see and feel, even if it’s not enough to win, that the whole club and all the many fans are behind us and support us to the end either way makes me particularly proud,” continued Michél Morard.

Indoor field hockey as an important part of Swiss field hockey

Although indoor field hockey is not an Olympic sport, it still plays an important role for Swiss field hockey.

Switzerland can position itself very well in the field hockey world here,” explained Michél Morard.

The tournament in Wettingen has once again shown that indoor field hockey can generate a high level of sporting quality and enormous enthusiasm.

In addition to the sporting performances, the flawless organization of the tournament was a particular source of enthusiasm. It seemed as if the entire village had worked together to put this European Championship on its feet.

Yes, it didn’t just seem that way, it was exactly the case. It’s incredible to see how many volunteers, friends, family and sponsors played their part in this successful event. To be able to play in front of such a perfect backdrop takes a huge amount of preparation. You could see that everyone put their heart and soul into making it all possible. We as Men’s 1 are very aware of this and would like to thank the entire Rotweiss family from the bottom of our hearts!”

Representatives of the local and provincial councils were also present to witness the great field hockey festival. The event in Wettingen presented itself as an absolute flagship for field hockey in Switzerland.

An event for the future of field hockey

The tournament was not only of great value for the players of Rotweiss Wettingen, but also for young players in Switzerland.

“An event like this is not only enormously valuable and unforgettable for us, but also for all the young field hockey talents, so that this dream of being at a tournament like this lives on and the many young talents stay on!” concluded Michél Morard.

Rotweiss Wettingen has proven that Swiss indoor hockey can compete at a high level by successfully maintaining its class and providing outstanding organization. This tournament will be remembered as a true field hockey festival.
