As an underdog, you have nothing to lose. And then anything can happen…
Mission World Cup Qualifiers (WCQ) – The Captain’s Voice

Swiss Hockey: Stephi, you are facing the FIH World Cup Qualifier. As far as we know, no Swiss women’s team has ever made it this far. How do you feel?
Stephi: Very good! I’m really looking forward to the tournament. It’s a privilege to be able to experience something like this.
Swiss Hockey: Does the team feel the same way? How is the mood in the team?*
Stephi: Good too. It was a bit tense for a short time with the squad, but that’s quite normal. Now everyone is really looking forward to it and we’re keen to show what we can do.
Swiss Hockey: Yes, it really shows. What do you think your chances are of actually qualifying for the World Cup?
Stephi: Of course I believe we have a chance. But we also have to be realistic, because the other teams are very strong. The great thing is that we’re going into the tournament as absolute underdogs and have nothing to lose – and then anything can happen.
Swiss Hockey: Where do you think the team can score points? And what do you still need to work on / improve?
Stephi: Definitely the fighting spirit and defensive work. We can still improve our cold-bloodedness in front of the opponent’s goal.
Swiss Hockey: As captain, how do you help your team to go into the games highly motivated?
Stephi: Being highly motivated myself! That’s infectious. But I don’t believe that any player or member of staff lacks motivation.
Swiss Hockey: And last but not least: Have you already discussed within the team what you will do if you actually qualify for the World Cup?
Stephi: Haha, no, but we’ll certainly have a good party first. And then give everything to perform at the World Cup 😉
Swiss Hockey: In that case, we’ll get the party ready …! We wish you and the team lots of fun and success as underdogs at such a historic tournament for Switzerland.
