We are delighted to have taken another step forward in the development of refereeing. With the new “Referee Specifications,” the association has created a framework for referees active in Swiss field hockey. This document supports referees with a concrete checklist containing the most important points for successfully officiating a hockey game. The specifications define the necessary “to-dos” in the preparation, execution, and follow-up of games.
“With this specification, we are providing referees with a manual that will help them to officiate games in the best possible way,” says Fabio Dornbierer, who has been in charge of refereeing at Swiss Hockey since August of this year. “It’s not just about ticking off the checklist, but the referees also receive helpful tips on how to manage tricky situations on and off the field, for example.”
