With great respect and deep gratitude, we bid farewell to Fabio Marelli, the captain of the Swiss national field hockey team. After a remarkable career at the highest levels of international hockey, Fabio is officially retiring, leaving behind a lasting legacy in Swiss hockey.
A Proud Journey of Dedication and Achievements
Throughout his career, Fabio Marelli has shaped and led the Swiss national team with immense dedication and exemplary effort. At 31 years old, he looks back on 86 international caps—a remarkable record that reflects not only his commitment but also his sporting talent
On the field, Fabio participated in 18 tournaments for Switzerland and scored 4 goals in his 61 total matches. He made his debut in 2016 and has been instrumental in representing and advancing Swiss field hockey at the highest level ever since.
Fabio also demonstrated his strength and versatility in indoor hockey. Since his indoor debut in 2018, he has taken part in 5 tournaments, scoring 9 goals in 25 matches. His passion and fighting spirit have often motivated and inspired the team during tough moments.
Fabio was not only an indispensable pillar on the field, but also a true leader in the locker room and during training. His enthusiasm and energy inspired and united the entire team. As captain, he always led by example, pushing his teammates to give their best. Thanks to his leadership and dedication, the Swiss team was strengthened both on and off the field.
