It’s been just under three weeks since our women’s national team achieved something historic: participation in the FIH World Cup Qualifier.
Oh how beautiful is … CHILE!

At the International Hockey Federation (FIH) World Cup Qualifier, our women showed what it means to surpass yourself.
The group with Chile (hosts), Australia (ranked 8th in the world) and France (ranked 16th in the world) was an extremely strong group – in football it would be a “group of death”. And yet our women’s team put up a brave fight:
- Against Chile, our ladies were able to keep up in the first quarter. The hosts then consistently increased the pressure over the remaining time, which led to a 0:6 result.
- Against France, our ladies were able to play the game at eye level and managed a 1-2 draw … if field hockey luck had helped, then a win would also have been possible
- Our ladies were able to hold their own for a long time against the top team from Australia, the result of 0:3 underlines the fact that they played against one of the best teams in the world
But our women’s team also proved to be almost on a par against Malaysia in the placement matches (1:3). Against Canada, the Swiss women’s national team finally achieved a well-deserved victory with a 2:1 result.
The miracle of Chile did not happen, but we are more than proud of our women’s national team.
