The World Master Games took place in Nottingham from March 26-31 this year. And our Swiss national team was represented by two teams.
World Master Games 2026: 5th place for the Swiss Ü50 & Ü60

Our Ü50 and Ü60 national players took part very successfully in the World Master Games in Nottin-gham. The Ü60 with Reinhard Fischer (GK), Linus Angst, Frédéric Walther, Stefan Leu-enberger, Guido Steiner (C), André Walti, Bruno Meier, Daniel Voltzenlogel, Bruno Affentranger, Mar-kus Jungo, Andreas Stühlinger, Stefan Schacher and Willy Arber as manager/doctor were able to win once each against Wales and England in their 5 games and had narrow defeats against Cana-da, Holland and England again in the classification game. After only achieving last place in 2024, everyone was now very satisfied with the fantastic fifth place, behind the field hockey giants Holland, Germany, France and England.
The over 50s were also very satisfied with the tournament. With 4 wins from 5 games against Bangladesh, Wales, Canada and Australia, they were only narrowly beaten by the Dutch. Due to the special mode, however, the door to the semi-finals was closed and so 5th place was the best possible result. Andreas Müller “Balli” (GK), Marcus Hitzbleck (GK), Fedor Plambeck, Patrick Stutz, Jérôme Andries, Matthias Leypold, Antonio Pelaez, Kurt Coppo, Roger Thoma, Andy Gasser, Jan-Willem de Ruiter and Toni Haberthür (C) and Wolfgang Landtwing as team manager competed in the over 50s.
It was a great event with many wonderful moments on and off the pitch. With more than 100 different teams in men’s and women’s field hockey in various age categories, this is a real field hockey highlight and we hope that we will be able to enter even more teams in two years’ time. Hopefully with a women’s team as well!
