In 2025, Swiss Hockey organized the Club Management Course for the first time, in collaboration with Swiss Olympic. This course, which includes both an online and a practical component, was a great success.
Successful First Edition of the Swiss Hockey Club Management Course

The online course
The 10 participants completed various online modules before attending the first in-person session, which took place at the House of Sports, the headquarters of Swiss Olympic in Ittigen. These modules covered key aspects of effective and efficient club management, including member engagement, volunteer recruitment, and developing strong club structures.
The online component provided participants with a strong foundation before the in-person sessions. One participant described it as:
“All important topics are covered, good in-depth documents, a good mix between theory and questions that make it more engaging and concrete.”

The attendance days
One of the highlights of the course was the interactive group work, where participants exchanged ideas, shared experiences, and collaborated on real-life club management challenges.
“Excellent topics discussed and good interaction in work groups.”
The attendance days were particularly valuable in fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange between clubs of different sizes. A participant summarized the experience as follows:

“The course created a positive interaction between smaller and larger clubs, improving mutual understanding. The presentation on club growth was outstanding—especially in keeping parents engaged and developing strategies to attract new members. Additionally, we gained a very clear overview of what Swiss Hockey offers to clubs and how the federation is structured.”
On to next year!
At the end of the course, which concluded last Saturday, all participants left with new knowledge and practical tools to implement in their clubs over the coming months. The engaging discussions, combined with practical exercises, helped to strengthen their understanding of effective club management strategies.
The course was a huge success, and we look forward to an even bigger and better edition in 2026, welcoming even more participants to continue improving club management across Swiss hockey!
